A look back at 2024: Plant-powered fashion at Jiwya

At Jiwya, we’d like to remember 2024 as a year that marked the beginning of the plant-based fashion revolution. It took us bold strides and an unwavering commitment to bring artisanal plant-based apparel to a global stage. As the year draws to a close, let’s take a moment to reflect on the journey filled with challenges and milestones.

Establishing a 100% plant–powered supply chain

As the world’s first artisanal plant-based luxury brand, Jiwya has successfully set up a transparent and ethical supply chain. Our conscious founders have ensured that every yarn, thread and embellishment in our supply chain comes from plants. In 2024, we’ve successfully secured seven different plant-based fashion raw materials that use less water and are grown pesticide-free. They make it into our latest collection as long-lasting garments that feel soft on your skin.

Featuring over 150+ textile arts, our raw materials are created by grassroot artisans who have adopted our plant-based practices. Together, we carry forward the legacy of Indian heritage arts and respect every hand involved. The final design, manufacturing, and dyeing happen at the headquarters, with a small team of founders and production associates thereby achieving the perfect fusion of sustainability and traditional arts.

Embracing bio-circular fashion, zero-waste production

Jiwya, derived from Sanskrit for ‘jeev’ means life, soul and spirit and stands for a soil-to-soil life cycle of our products. It denotes our deep respect for nature and every life on earth. In 2024, we’ve raised the bar in sustainable fashion by introducing the bio-circular economy where every material comes from and returns to the soil. Each Jiwya piece gets its last thread, buttons and label from plants and contains zero plastic or animal derived materials.

This year, we’ve mastered the art of creative upcycling and turned fabric scraps into loops, strings and embellishments that adorn our pieces. With a zero-waste production system, local supply chain and thoughtful sustainability practices, we’ve abated 600kg of CO2 and prevented 150 kg of plastic contributing to a greener fashion space.

On World Environment Day 2024, we established our Re:Jiwya initiative where you get a lifetime subscription of Repair, Revamp and Reintroduction for every purchase. This way we take responsibility for every creation of Jiwya through and after its lifetime.

Suvem: Bringing eco-chic consumers together

Suvem is our signature fashion exhibit that we hold close to our hearts. Named after artisanal heritage, Suvem in Sanskrit means woven on a humble handloom. It was an eventful two days where we showcased a glimpse of our plant-based collection, and met you, the eco-chic fashion consumers who showed us new possibilities for Jiwya. In 2025, Jiwya seeks to meet more new-gen fashionistas like you who cherish stories and experiences and choose classics over fleeting trends.

Meeting global sustainability standards

Jiwya enters 2025 as a luxury fashion brand that is PETA-certified and has an 88/100 rating on COSH! We are thrilled to announce that we’ve signed the Total ethics fashion manifesto and have resolved to make fashion good for the planet, people and animals.

Since launch, Jiwya has saved 5,13,500 litres of water and 2400 kWh of electricity, showing the world the path towards better fashion that celebrates nature and doesn’t harm the environment.

Our latest launch in November is a symphony of timeless art and bespoke designs in purely plant-based form. We invite you to step into 2025 with a sustainable wardrobe!
