The Painjan Handmade Tapestry
The Painjan Handmade Tapestry
The Painjan Handmade Tapestry is a scroll style wall art that blends two varying art forms in a rare amalgamation.
The tapestry is a form of Chandua art from Odisha, which is made by appliqueing scrap fabrics into a story. It depicts the scene of a tribal woman taking a walk in the jungle, made using naturally plant dyed Dabu and Bagru hand block printed fabrics onto a cotton handloom fabric. Dabu and Bagru are two hand block print art forms from the state of Rajasthan, but have distinctive style in their wooden blocks and significant difference in their hand-block printing styles.
